Dr. Sarah Mackie has been practicing at Eye Center, Inc since 2001. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and went on to get her Doctorate of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Mackie practices full-scope general optometry, including the fitting of glasses and contact lenses, as well as the treatment of dry eye, glaucoma, diabetic care, and other ocular infections and diseases. She also performs pediatric eye examinations for school-age children.
Dr. Mackie was recently appointed by the Board of Governors to the Board of Trustees at New College of Florida and is currently serving a four year term. She is also a member of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce and the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce. She has served on several different community boards in Bradenton, including Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Hope Family Services, and the Junior League of Manatee County. She is currently focusing on the Eye Center, Inc. Vision Foundation, which provides free eye examinations and a complete set of glasses to Manatee county students in need. The Vision Foundation also supports and provides glasses to the patients at Turning Points, which provides services to the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in Manatee County.
In her spare time, Dr. Mackie enjoys spending time with her two daughters and her husband, Dr. Michael Mackie. She is an avid runner, and she also loves fishing, snow skiing, and watching college football and UNC basketball.
