Dr. Michael Mackie

Dr. Michael Mackie is a native of Manatee County and joined Eye Center Inc., in 1996. Upon graduating from Manatee High School, he attended Auburn University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology. He then attended Nova Southeastern University and obtained his Doctorate of Optometry in 1996. Dr Mackie has extensive years of ocular medical experience while practicing at Eye Center Inc. for over 25 years. He is highly skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases as well as disorders of the visual system.

 

Dr. Mackie believes very strongly in giving back to the community that has been so good to him. He is a past president of the Coastal Conservation Association of Manatee County, and has served as a board member of Just For Girls and the Bradenton Yacht Club. Currently he is the chairman of the Manatee County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He is also a member of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, the Hernando DeSoto Historical Society and the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature where he served 3 terms on the Board of Trustees. Recently, he was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Manatee County Early Learning Coalition. When not caring for patients, Dr. Mackie spends his time with his two daughters and wife Sarah. You can usually find them boating and enjoying the local waterways and barrier islands. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys traveling to unique locations to experience all that nature has to offer.
