Dr. Michael Mackie

Dr. Michael Mackie

Dr. Mackie is a native of Manatee County and joined the Eye Center, Inc. in 1996.  Upon graduating from Manatee High School, he attended Auburn University and received a BS in Zoology.  He then attended Nova South Eastern College and obtained his Doctorate of Optometry in 1996.
 
Dr. Mackie has served on many local boards and organizations.  He is a past president of the Coastal Conservation Association of Manatee County and has served as a board member of Just for Girls and the Bradenton Yacht Club.  Currently, he is a member of the Manatee Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and was a two-time past president.  Dr. Mackie is also a member of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, Hernando Desoto Historical Society, and is actively involved with local high school athletics.




Dr. Sarah Mackie

Dr. Sarah Mackie

Dr. Mackie is originally from North Carolina. She moved to Florida and began practicing at the Eye Center, Inc. in 2001. She attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and received her B.S. degree in Biology. She then went to Pennsylvania College of Optometry where she obtained her Doctorate of Optometry in 2001. Dr. Mackie practices full-scope general optometry, including the fitting of glasses and contact lenses, as well as the treatment of dry eye, glaucoma and other ocular diseases.

Currently a member of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce and the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Mackie has also served on several different community boards in Bradenton, including Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Hope Family services and Junior League of Manatee County.

She is currently focusing on the Eye Center Vision Foundation, which provides free eye examinations and a complete set of glasses to Manatee County students in need.  Professionally she is a member of the American Optometric Association and Florida Optometric Association.





Dr. Ashley Muhlada

Dr. Paige Gillenwaters

Dr. Gillenwaters is originally from Naples, FL. She attended the University of Florida before earning her Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University in 2011. Dr. Gillenwaters moved to Bradenton and joined Eye Center, Inc. in September 2011.
Dr. Gillenwaters practices full-scope, primary care optometry, whether it's prescribing eye glasses, fitting contact lenses or treating a variety of eye infections and diseases.
Dr. Gillenwaters is an active member of the Junior League of Manatee County, the Manatee Chamber of Commerce and the

Manatee Optometric Association.
She also serves on the board of the Manatee County Gator Club, which provides scholarships to select Manatee County students to attend the University of Florida.




Dr. Brad Laudicina

Dr. Brad Laudicina

Dr. Laudicina is a native of Bradenton and began working for Eye Center, Inc. at the age of 15 where he quickly found his passion for the field of optometry. Upon graduating from Manatee High School, he attended Florida State University where he earned a BS in Biology. He continued his education at Nova Southeastern University receiving a second BS in Vision Sciences and his Doctorate of Optometry, while earning honors in his primary care rotations.

Dr. Laudicina practices the full-scope of optometry, specializing in the treatment of ocular diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eyes, diabetic care, in addition to other ocular diseases as well as the fitting of many different kinds of contact lenses and glasses.

Dr. Laudicina is a member of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce and the Manatee Optometric Association and is always looking to get involved with the community. He currently serves on the board of We Care Manatee, an organization committed to arranging free, comprehensive healthcare for eligible uninsured Manatee County residents.  He also enjoys being involved with the Manatee County Young Professionals.




Dr. Douglas K. Black

Dr. Douglas K. Black

Douglas K. Black, O.D. has over 20 years of experience as an optometrist. Originally from southwestern Pennsylvania, he earned his Doctor of Optometry from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Prior to that, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Pennsylvania State University. He practiced optometry in the Columbus, Ohio area from 1995 until relocating to the Gulf Coast of Florida in 2001. His private practice, Island Vision Care, was located in The Center Shops on Longboat Key until 2008. At that time, he was lured away from the area to take advantage of a unique opportunity to temporarily provide eye care for the residents of the island nation of Bermuda. Dr. Black returned to Florida permanently in 2015. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with his wife Helena, as well as many outdoor activities, including golf, tennis, kayaking, and hiking.
